Orangerific Cookies

Nothing new to report for dinner. So on to dessert. Today I made Orange Drop Cookies from a cookbook I recently purchased. The cookbook is "Sweet Maria's Italian Desserts" by Maria Bruscino Sanchez. I've made one recipe from the book and it was a huge success so I know I'll try more recipes from this cookbook. The drawback to the cookbook is it is a cookbook. There aren't any pictures, no real stories from the author, just recipes with shorts interjected throughout.

Now on to the cookies:

Orange Drop Cookies

Ok, these cookies are really good and Ron just loves them. They are not like a typical American cookie, rather more cake-like. But they are definitely full of orange flavor which is echoed in the icing. It's a simple recipe to put together and for me I had all the ingredients on hand to make the cookies. I used navel oranges for the zest (grated rind) and juiced them. My KitchenAid mixer made simple work of the recipe but the dough was sticky to work with. Also, this is not a good dough to eat raw - some cookies you can eat the cookie dough, but I doubt you'll be eating this one that way.

You can find the recipe here: Orange Drop Cookies. Drop me a line if you make these cookies or if you've used the cookbook and let me know what you think.

Also, check out the Weekend Cookbook Challenge. This month's theme is "Foods in the Shade of Orange." I think these qualify.

Happy Baking!
Felicia
