Saturday's Forge

We ate at McDonald's this morning. I had a bacon, egg and cheese biscuit and he had a sausage, egg and cheese biscuit. Then we traveled to North Bend and shopped at the Outlet center. I purchased a Microplane Zester/Grater and a Garlic Handwasher.

On the way home, it poured rain, harder than I have ever seen it rain in Seattle. We stopped at JCPenney at Bellevue Square to check out their kitchen stuff. Penney's tends to have great sales and Saturday was no exception. But I didn't buy anything for myself, instead I picked up some stuff for a friend's birthday.

Then we went to a new Sushi place close to the house and had California Rolls, Salmon Teriyaki, miso soup, salad and orange for dessert. The salmon was delicious and I think we can make an equally or better tasting dish at home. It was seared in a cast iron rectangle on top of shredded cabbage with a wonderful teriyaki glaze that thickened. It was really good with the steamed rice.

We really had no idea for dinner and I guess it was the rain and the football playing on tv, but I ended up napping for a couple of hours. I didn't cook at all for the whole day. It is really nice to have a day off from cooking. We just each found something for dinner. There were plenty of leftovers that needed to be consumed.
