A Blog about Food and Life

My husband, Ron & I relocated from the Gulf Coast to the Pacific Northwest a couple of years ago. But this move left our palates desiring the Southern foods we enjoyed. Never much of a cook before, I now had to learn to cook “real” food. This blog grew out of necessity because Ron always says we never have any new dishes. Now I have proof we eat different meals. However, the unexpected happened in that we are using our blog to plan better meals & discover what works.

When you think of the preservatives in the processed, convenience foods we eat, you stop & take count of what is more important - eating healthy, cheap, or quick. In the last few years we've grossed ourselves out with the artery-clogging fats that didn't enter our systems (ever drain browned ground beef & let the drained stuff sit overnight?) If it coagulates like that outside the body what does it do inside the body?

My goal is to eat more natural foods, foods with the least amount of preservatives - preferably none at all, incorporate more green into our diet, & eat healthier foods in general. I realize it won’t happen overnight, but I know keeping track will help our evaluations.
